Meet Jennifer Celio Li: Client Services Manager at PadInMotion

It seems the importance of networking is becoming more and more apparent lately. In fact, I was at a Weave Concierge meeting just last Friday and had the pleasure of hearing yet another cool story. I’ll save that one for a later date. Today I want to share Jennifer’s story.

Because we’re based in San Francisco, it’s rare that we hear success stories in other cities. Most of what we hear comes from meetings we personally attend to through Weave. I love this story so much because it proves that jobs are found through networking.

Jennifer Celio Li lives in New York City, and she landed a job through a networking meetup via the Weave app. Read below to see how it all went down.

Q: Before we get into the details, can you tell our readers how we got in touch with you?
A: I was participating in a #HITchicks tweetchat for women working in or interested in health IT, and someone had started talking about finding mentors and setting up coffee chats. I tweeted “@startweaving is a great app for professional matchmaking – it led me to my new job!” And you guys tweeted back!

Q: That’s awesome. So, tell me a little bit about yourself? Where are you from? What do you do?
A: I live in NYC, and have been an occupational therapist for over 13 years. I went back to school for public health a few years ago, and started working for healthcare startups. I just recently started a new position managing client services for a digital health startup called PadInMotion.

Q: What brought you to Weave?
A: I first downloaded the app prior to attending a General Assembly digital startup event called the Creators Unconference. When I interact with other conference participants through social media, it’s usually through Twitter, so I thought I’d try something new. Being out of the dating scene for quite some time, I also wanted to experience swiping left and swiping right!

Q: Oh! We helped General Assembly launch a Weave Group for that event. It’s cool to see things come full circle like this. Can you tell me about one Weave meetup that occurred that turned out to be really useful?
A: Meeting someone from PadInMotion, of course! I had the healthcare filter on while exploring the general networking section, and matched with the General Counsel & VP of Business Development of my company. Our initial chats were not “interviews,” but a lot more casual. It was an easy, no pressure way to get to know one another. When I expressed interest in pursuing a position with them, I came in for a formal interview.

Q: I love it. And the rest is history. Is there anything else you wanted to add?
A: Yes. I want to thank Drew Hickerson! He is the one I met on Weave, that eventually made this all possible. So, Drew, thank you!

Jennifer’s #NetworkingTip: Maintain a professional online presence and actively engage both virtually and in person. Be a connector – introduce people to one another and to organizations when you see an opportunity.
